Required New Jersey law expressively requires document signers to personally appear before the Notary at the time of notarizations. Meaning the Notary and the signer must be both physically present.
Three Identification Methods (Needed at Appointment): Government issued ID's, New Jersey driver's license or official nondriver's ID, U.S or foreign passport, or U.S military ID.
Unacceptable Identification Documents: Social Security cards, Birth Certificates, and Credit Cards.
Blank or Incomplete Documents (will not be Notarized). If you the signer are unsure how to fill in the blanks. You should contact the document's issuer it's eventual recipient, or an attorney.
Photocopies & Faxes Original Signature- photocopy or fax may be notarized as long as the signature on it is original, meaning that the photocopy or fax must be signed with pen and ink. A photocopied or faxed signature (will not be notarized).
Please NOTE: Public recorders sometimes will not accept notarized photocopies or faxes, because the text of the document may be to faint to adequately reproduce in microfilming.
